Pink Stone Ring
I haven't sketched anything sparkly like jewelry yet, I don't think. With over 100 20-minute sketches logged by now, it's getting harder to keep track! Several contemporary realists and photorealists specialize in jewelry, makeup and other feminine accoutrements as their favored subjects, so this is my humble shot at it. The color of the stone in this ring is almost exactly the color I achieved with the paint (watercolor, approx. 3" x 4"). Rendering silver on black cloth was like painting in black and white, very few other colors were reflected. That's something I would remedy with a colored cloth if I do a similar subject again.
