Wildflowers...

Another still life sketch in 20 minutes, but the main goal in this one was to capture the elusive bluish-purple so unique to the cornflower. I would call it periwinkle, but if you look closely at the actual flower, the petals are slightly magenta purple at the center and turn to a bright (cerulean, for artists) blue at the ends. The subtle nuances found in nature never cease to be interesting to me. Watercolor, 5 1/2" x 8".
